Are you an expert in your field and looking to share your knowledge with the world? Creating an online course is a great way to do just that! However, if you’ve never written an online course before, it can seem like a daunting task. Where do you start? What all do you include? How detailed do you get? In this article, we’ll walk you through the steps to write your first online course.
1. Choose Your Topic
The first step in creating an online course is to choose your topic. Think about what you’re passionate about and what expertise you can share with others. Consider what problems your audience is facing and how you can help solve those problems through your course. Maybe you already have an idea, but you need to narrow it down (or broaden the scope, though that is rare). Think about how long you want the course to be, break it into a few detailed steps, 5–20ish steps. If your course has too many trails leading off into other topics you may need to narrow the scope.
2. Define Your Learning Objectives
Once you’ve chosen your topic, it’s time to define your learning objectives. What do you want your students to be able to do by the end of the course? What skills or knowledge should they…
