Writing a compelling story entails a delicate balance of creativity, structure, and technique. Authors deploy a variety of devices to captivate their readers, draw them into the narrative, and keep them engaged until the final page. In this article, we delve into three major devices that writers often use to craft captivating stories. All writers have strengths, don’t worry if you don’t master all of them right away — but try to work on adding different elements to your writing.

1. Foreshadowing: Building Anticipation and Suspense
