How to turn your dream life into income.
I have been traveling the world for years, but when began traveling most of my income has come from a variety of places, mostly copywriting, and getting gigs working on farms when I was at home. This was a very ineffective way to travel. Since then I have worked to write specifically about my travels. Here are some things I learned along the way.
Travel writing can be an exciting and rewarding work for those who have a passion for exploring new places and sharing their experiences with others. But it is also daunting. How do you get started? Is there any money in it?
1. Start exploring: The first step in becoming a travel writer is to start exploring new places. Whether you travel to a nearby city or to a far-off country, take notes on your experiences and observations. These notes can form the basis of your travel writing. I like to make sure I add tags to my google maps and attach links and addresses to my notes to make sure I don’t have to spend too much time later trying to find the exact locations and names, addresses, etc.
2. Read travel writing: Reading travel writing from established writers can provide inspiration and insight into the craft. Look for travel writing in magazines, newspapers, and online publications. I grew up reading National Geographic…
